Tidbit About Your Credit Rating
I was reading an article the other day about a couple who wanted to buy a house. They thought they had good credit. They soon found out they didn't have as good of credit as they thought. The one thing that alludes most people is the fact that credit cards really want their payments on time. If you have a habit of being a few days late on paying your credit card bill, your credit rating won't be as good as you think it is. Even if you are all caught up on payments, you'll still have a history of late payments. Keep that in mind the next time you have a credit card payment due and you want to wait an extra week to pay it! The one thing that makes the most sense is to use your credit card only when you need it. That way, the balance due never gets out of hand. One technique I've seen people use is that they use their credit card for all of their expenses throughout the month and they save their paychecks. They pay the bill in full on the due date...the DUE DATE! This technique has two benefits. One is that they save their money and collect interest in their savings account. Another is that they never have adverse marks on their credit record.
